Is your camera too loud ?

I came across this: http://www.amazon.ca/Camera-Muzzle-Muffling-Enclosure-Digital/dp/B001DIWMR2, God knows how I ended up to that specific page !
There's even one person who posted a "review" of a camera fitted with/without the "muzzle" (not Pentax) with decibel numbers !

I find my K5 quiet enough -- not need for the gadget -- but seemingly, some will need the "muffler" on their camera(s)!

Anyone here would use this thing on a Pentax DSLR camera?

The K-3 is similarly very quiet. No issue for me.

Oh yeah. Isn't that called a sound blimp? This is especially useful for places where you need absolute quiet, such as on TV shows, sets, theater.. But its huge, so it can't "hide" the camera, only the sound. Its usually for photographers hired for that special event, its not really something that regular amateurs like myself would use or need (even though my little K-01 can be a little loud sometimes, adjusting aperture and making people think I am constantly shooting photos)

K-3/K-5 are, indeed, very quiet. The K-r/K-30/K-50 etc are very much not quiet. Those blimps are often used at golf tournaments, but I've never tried one m'self.

I've seen the K-s1 regarded as loud - but the K-r is definitely louder, more a 'klack' vs. K-s1's 'ksnick' (but the K-5 models I used are far quieter).

Sometimes, it's not just the loudness, but the type of sound it creates, is the problem.

My K30 is louder than the K-X, but the K-x' sound is more disrupting, it's like the entire shutter assembly is falling apart! Outdoors, and in the city, it poses no problem, but in a quiet environment, it can attract attention. I bring it because it's small, but when it starts shooting in an ocean of iphones, it sure can draw unwanted glances.

That's because iPhone shooters are "real pro's" !! and they don't like the invasive nature of DSLR's.

Still have your M9? ((saw that in your signature)) .... That should be quiet enough BTW.
