724mm f/2.2 lens available

Seriously!

Michael

errata: it appears to be "just" a 620mm f/2.2. I'd put a 1.4x teleconverter on that puppy and have an 868mm f/3.5

Minor correction? 620mm per the blurb.

It’s not only missing something that comes with virtually every telescope ever produced . . . an eyepiece . . . it doesn’t even have a place to put an eyepiece. That’s because the 620mm focal length f/2.22 Celestron 11” RASA is strictly a deep space imaging scope and cannot be used visually.

LOL - since it is almost always shot at infinity (I would imagine) I would say "no". That and it's a mirror lens and even with correction I would expect donut shaped highlights.

Seems to me you could focus this puppy using the FluCard.
(N.B. the email I received mentioned 724mm, sorry for the confusion)

The focuser is on the rear cell of the scope. The camera stays affixed to the front glass while the rear mirror moves to focus. There are autofocus motors that can be added to a telescope but the controller software only works with specialized astronomy CCD cameras and Canon DSLRs AFAIK.

That 11" wide f2.2 is not the only option. You can Hyperstar modify 6" through 14" wide telescopes to get 290mm f1.9 through 684mm f1.9 arrangements. Product Categories

Agreed. I meant that you could use the FluCard to "see" the effects of your focusing, whether manual or motorized.
