Yes they are... all of them. sigh.

But I would love to be a looney - meaning being able to see the moon - tonight.

I'm looney for the luna, don't shoot the moona!

Cloud cover here.. thin, wispy, fast moving cloud cover.. enough to see though.. but since I had to drag the shutter to get a bright enough exposure to see anything, it means the resultant exposure is blurry looking from the moving cloud cover.

Still neat.. it is very very red here now.

Is it ok that I'm jealous in two dimensions right now? Your lens and your location and clear skies both make me covet them.

Just returned... It was a completely cloudless sky....waiting for the camera to come up to room temperature ( it's only 11C outside right now) before pulling it out of the bag (to avoid condensation) to get at the memory card....

There were a lot of people with kids and dogs, thermoses full of coffee ( or?) all over the place. It was quite the neighbourhood social event... of course the "real photographers"... the ones with big tripods and lenses...were muttering under their breath at the foolishness of the folks using a flash...

Earlier as it rose past Mt. St.Helens - took me a while to detect it!

Here is one of mine after the clouds cleared. These are my best eclipse photos so far.

Great shots everyone!

I was shocked that there were enough breaks in the clouds tonight for me to get a few shots. I sat out for two hours and my patience was rewarded.

I caught it rising. Just me and the dog up in the hills. The left side was just starting to darken.

Then I had to get the obligatory eclipse shot. I like being able to see the stars like that.

not long enough exposure

3200 iso so a little noisy but you can see faint stars in the background. using a telescope around f/8 at 1/15th sec (I did desaturate it because the picture was much redder than I saw it). Guess I should have tried 1 or 2 seconds exposure and a lower ISO. Oh well, there is always 2033.....

I wanted to catch the rise but it was just too dim to even detect for quite awhile after it'd been up, well into the darkening.... Still a great show.

and returning home, it lit my backyard quite nicely after the eclipse had finished.

Lovin that rise shot... compressed perspective blended up with all the nice fall colors to match. Good stuff.
