That depends on your definition of vintage. Just about any 1970s era 35mm film camera could be argued as qualifying. A late production K1000, however, is sort of stretching the friendship.

The heartbreaking thing is they give you the false impression that Altoids are involved.

In all fairness I have bought and sold on eBay for many years with only being scammed once within my first month on there, from there on in you learn very quickly.

It all boils down to common sense and also the knowledge we have of the camera market, also sellers feedback is your friend.

I saw an smc k 135/2.5 for sale on there for $700. They seller made it sound as if it was some rare collectors item. I wrote him and said I just bought one from adorama for $150 that was in excellent condition. He also had some other k lenses for outrageous prices. If I remember correctly, it was a k28 for $600.
There's a lot of this crap on ebay. Many people have no scruples whatsoever. However, if the K28 was the first version f/2 then I believe they do go for around $600. More likely it was the f/3.5 version though, which is a nice lens but not worth $600.

It's moments like these you need MINTY.

(Aussies will get this one. Otherwise, contextual reference is here.)

I saw Otis counting some cash this morning.....looks like he sold another "truckload" of Golden Roasted Georgia Peanuts on the Bay.

More lawsuits, another unsatisfied buyer......it never ends. Used to be we said a sucker was born every minute...Otis says that nowadays hundreds are born every second...and he has the cash to prove it!

Regards!

I ran into several circumstances on eBay when I tried to buy a certain version of a lens and the seller tried to sell me a different version. Its all in how they list the Description of the Item, some descriptions can be very deceptive while still being Legal.

Personally I have more respect for armed bandits - at least they're up front about what they do.

As I stated before, sometimes it's not the seller's fault.
Sometimes it isn't; no. But sometimes it very clearly is; describing the Pentax ME as possessing a multi-segment metering system and SAFOX-VIII autofocus is simply beyond the pale. Hey, I wish it had both those things - a DSLR that size would be my dream camera, at least for lenses at or below 50mm. Little wonder the SLR-lookalike MILCs from Olympus and Fuji are so popular - stick the guts of one of those in an ME or MX shell and I'd almost consider mirrorless myself.

I found eight ME auctions with that "Detailed Item Info" block, plus two who appear to have cut-and-pasted the text into their description, so it does appear to be a combination of an error in eBay's catalog system and sellers who don't know or don't care that the info is wrong.

This is what eBay has to say about errors in the catalog, which is pretty much useless:

Reporting incorrect or missing product details
Product details and stock photos are provided by other companies and may be changed or removed from time to time. So it's a good idea to confirm the accuracy of the information before listing your item.

yes the tragic decline of the perfectly applicable term 'mint'
which I take in the numismatic sense
to the brain dead 'minty' which where I come from is a white lolly...
certain words should invite a power surge that fries the pc

look the sooner we can 3D print the stuff we want the better...
all this waiting around for the right combination of features is so last century
Jeese we could just run down a check list of all features then press go.
Blinking drone can deliver it if they want

This has been my eBay-to-English dictionary for some time:

New, Like New, Mint, Minty = "for sale"
New in Box, Mint in Box = includes some sort of box
MISP / Mint in Sealed Package = seller has access to shrinkwrap
Used = too decrepit to possibly describe as "like new"
Rare, Hard to Find = seller only has one for sale
Collectible = seller doesn't know what it is
Vintage = old, seller doesn't know what it is

I'm trying to sell a Pentax-F 50mm f2.8 macro currently on ebay, and it looks just like my description, the thing is, it is rare, it is collectible, it is a hard to find lens, and it is minty. So what words should I use?
