Leonids tonight / tomorrow morning!

Everything you need to know: Leonid meteor shower 2015 | Astronomy Essentials | EarthSky

I'll probably be getting up at midnight to go and try to take some photos, good luck to other photographers!

What lens do you recommend to use and what sort of settings?

I was thinking something like the Soligor wide open and 10 seconds exposures with whatever ISO needed.
Do you think I'll have more luck at 18mm on the kit lens, f3.5 around 15 seconds and whatever ISO?

Sounds like a good settings starting point but it will require some trial and error. Remember that the radiant (the point in the sky where the meteors seem to originate) is not where you should be aiming your camera unless you have an ultra wide. Best to aim it somewhere along the horizon about 20-30 degrees elevation. Since the direction of travel is random, you will sooner or later catch a few.

I'm kinda thinking we'll be foggy - 3.15" rain today, 9.91" for the week then "partial clearing"

Would you suggest using the 18-55 or the Soligor?
