Don't drop your camera in a volcano...

I know they are WR but not that much.
See what happened to this Sony:

Might have to use a swab on the sensor, though.

G. Brad Lewis worked with the National Park Services at Kilauea's ongoing volcanic eruption on the Big Island of Hawaii. He would get to the site via helicopter, and then up-wind, shoot active lava using a respirator. His Nikon N90, and later D90 would only last a few months due to the acidic gas and internal corrosion. He purposely did not use a higher end SLR because of the additional protection of a higher end SLR did not protect it significantly enough to outweigh the inevitable destruction in those conditions. The solid lava can still be hot enough to melt the soles of shoes and tripod feet. It's insane that someone not only got close enough to lava to drop their camera in it, but then risk pulling it out. We're talking 1300-2200 degrees F.

I am grateful that Sony makes the best CMOS sensors with excellent dynamic range, and that Ricoh can use them in Pentax cameras. I would not be happy with Ricoh if they switched to Canon sensors.

You're right it's only a Sony - which was once Minolta's Camera Division. Minolta made exceptional cameras. The Sony A7r II looks quite impressive. It would be nice it the Pentax FF sports the same sensor.
