Pride goeth before the fall

I was feeling rather smug this afternoon, because the portrait I donated to the International Center of Photography's benefit auction had garnered 3 bids (the most in the series), and those 3 bids were enough to propel the portrait into the ranks of "Trending Work" on Paddle8:

https://paddle8.com/

And then I realized just I as I was leaving my very corporate office in the financial sector that I'd been wearing two different shoes (same style, different colours) all day.

Ego balloon duly burst

Hi frogoutofwater. Well done on the " Trending work " portrait. Perhaps you should look at the shoe incident as " Potential fashion trend - work in progress. "

You are an artist. Fashion statements on the edge are expected.

That's what happens when you have one foot in the corporate world and one foot in the artistic world...

If you ever watched the film 'The Man With One Red Shoe' you should be very afraid

Congratulations on the portrait.

Tomorrow, wear the same combo except switch the left and right shoe.

Done that. And another time, a T-shirt backwards (not inside out).

I've done that two, except the shoes were not the same style. Welcome to the club!

That is done that too. Know I've joined the other club.

There are young women who choose to wear non-matching socks. I think "fashion Statement" is the explanation to stick with.

Two different shoes = last night's party was a blast.

A little update on the auction:

I was very pleasantly shocked to discover that the portrait I donated sold for $2000 (!) following a friendly but very intense bidding war. And I heard from the auction organizer that many people were moved by the portrait and the story behind it. (Scout was rescued as a starving lamb from an illegal backyard slaughterhouse, but not lives in peace at Catskill Animal Sanctuary). So I'm glad that I was able to do something to help the school - and also share Scout's story with the people who viewed the online auction or attended the gala.

... And I must admit that the thrill of that auction result almost erases the embarrassment of wearing different shoes to work
