I would recommend the 12-24 but since you don't have it...18-135 and be done. Unfortunately it is not that wide, so the 10-17 would be the next addition.

If you want to see the waterfalls, your visit should be before the end of May. I went to Fresno in May 2012 and visited Yosemite both weekends I was there. The second weekend I could definitely see the difference in the amount of water.

I was excited to use my 18-135 by Bridalveil since it is my only WR lens and I hadn't used it much at that time. It was kind of fun to put the weather cover over the backpack and just stroll up to the falls while watching others cover themselves and try to shelter their cameras with jackets, if they even got that far. I also used my 80-320 on people climbing El Capitan and shots of Vernal Fall and Nevada Fall from Glacier Point. However, I generally prefer taking landscapes with longer lenses so my opinion is a bit different from the others. Out of your list, I think I'd take #2.

Ah love these threads, telling someone else what to do

I would go a little differently to everyone else, the weight issue is not that big imho, the difference between your heaviest and lightest option is not much at the end of the day.

I am a believer in using your best lenses when ever possible, so I would be packing the 17-50, 50-135 & 55-300. I don't know the 10-17, but if space permitted and you know how well it performs I would also include that. That's gives you a range of 10-300, some f2.8 options and quality.

I would never leave the 50-135 home, and my betting is that it will spend a lot of time on your camera.

Have a great trip.

I agree with you Mallee Bull. I dont go anywhere without the 50-135. Ive been in there twice and its been fantastic. Did everything i wanted. Quality is good enough to crop pretty hard and its great for stitching. Anything any wider, my wife covered with her kit 18-55. Not hard to stitch quite a few together taken hand held. So with what you have there i'd go with the 17-50 plus 50-135.

Have a great time. Be awesome.

Where you are going, you'll want an ultra wide angle, I stick by my recommendation for the 10-17mm.
The 10-17mm is a very sharp lens that goes from fisheye at 10mm to nearly rectilinear at 17mm.

You know your itinerary, in the end it's up to you. When I go hiking, I often use one lens going out, and another lens coming back, so I rarely use more than two lenses in a day.

A monopod that doubles as a walking stick is a nice idea.
