Random TC and FF Query

I haven't seen a thread with this question posed, so I'll ask it here...

If one were to attached a FF compatible TC to a crop sensor specific lens (ie one that would not cover the FF sensor image circle), would the optics of the TC produce a FF compatible image?

I don't have a degree in physics, or optics, but my understanding of light ray behavior tells me at the very least the image produced might be "more" FF compatible with the TC since doesn't that happen with extension tubes as well?

Generally, yes. The 1.4x enlargement fully compensates for the APS-C image circle. Of course, it also slows down the lens and magnifies any and all flaws, but it'll certainly work, assuming the lens and TC are mechanically compatible.
