Finding Vivian Maier movie is on Netflix now.

I just discovered that movie yesterday while searching Netflix.
Too sad she could not find the way to show up her talent. I don't believe that she did not want her pictures to be known, I think she did not know how.

This is a fantastic documentary. Netflix has several others on street photography. Everybody Street is another must see.

Cool, do you remember more titles? I found the movie about Vivian trying to search movies about photography, but it's hard find something not knowing titles.

Saw this a couple of times in a row when it came out. It's an amazing story. K-1 rear screen is going to allow waist level shooting a little easier than the flip-out left variety.

City of God is another. If you go to the search box in Netflix and type in "photography" it will spit out a few titles. Oh, Bill Cunningham is another related to street photography.

I thought about that too. With small ltd. lens it can be not so intimidating, I guess.

i remember watching a very interesting Netflix documentary about the Polaroid One step, how it came to be and its intended consumer.
Very cool too.

Great film. I think if you watch it you'll see *very* quickly why she didn't become successful, unfortunately.

I was saddened to read that someone's popped up claiming to be a relative and hence have a case to get the assets/royalties/rights, etc.

Yes, it's so sad, where that relative has been before when no one knew her?

I guess that she had been abused as a child, and that fact might estrange her from people pushing her to keep dark secret in her life. She did not find own crowd to fit into, and maybe she was not able to that. For people who knew her she was just some weird nanny obsessed with photography.

After that movie I watched Everybody Street, great documentary about great photographers. They all fit that "Vivian profile"- when you see them on streets, they look weird to non photographers.
