K10/K5 Manual Lens User Plays with a D810

Rich mate was over so he bought his toys with him.

-D810
-80-200 f2.8
-20-35mm f2.8
-24mm f1.4
-35mm f1.4
-85mm f1.4

Now The only autofocus magic lens I had used up until this point was a quandary 35-90 f3,5 something or other? And using the D810. Yeah I can see the fuss.

Sneaking shots of small wrens deep in trees, the autofocus is really pretty good, Tracking was good but not infallible, It was by no means perfect and missed plenty of critters. Honestly about 60% of the shots were accurately focused. I was chasing small wrens in deep scrub, but still. It's by no means witchcraft. As mentioned, it was certainly more accurate then the Super Tak But would I buy $4k worth of gear to go walking around the bush in my leisure time....

The weight penalty, really not as a big of a deal as I'd imagine also, so promising for the FF Pentax coming of course.

Long story short as a professional tool, yeah I wouldn't want to struggle with anything less, but for a hobbyist, my K5 is fine thanks. Kinda glad I got that out of my system actually.

I am convinced I want some autofocus glass now however :P DA*'s please

You'd probably get more responses if you posted in one of the photography forums; as this one isn't for photography discussion. Perhaps you can contact a Moderator to move it for you.

As the Sticky says, General Talk is not for photographic discussions. Thus this thread has been moved to General Photography forum.
