Page 34 of today's Melbourne Age has a photo of my dog, Larry, taken be me but used without asking my permission to advertise the commercial sale of purebred dogs. He's a bitser from Australian Animal Protection Society in Keysborough. People who think he looks like a good dog might wish to visit one of the animal shelters in their town. They will all be full of good dogs needing good homes. Get a bitser instead of spending big on a purebred.

If I can find out who to pressure, I will accept a donation to the Animal Protection society instead of invoicing them.

Good suggestion.

There are a few stories in this:
1. Newspapers devaluing their mastheads by blurring the boundary between editorial content and advertising.
2. Newspaper staff photographers getting axed and whatever they can glean from the interweb being used to replace staff photographers' work.
3. The general devaluing of photography and lack of respect for copyright.

but most of all:
4. People making money from breeding and selling dogs and contributing to oversupply while the shelters are full of good dogs needing homes. Many of those dogs will be euthanased through no fault of the shelters.
