Seriously, companies almost never spend the money required to make their products secure until after it's been revealed that said products are unsecure. Look at the remote start functionality that allows one to steal various new cars. Security is mostly an afterthought for many/most.

See also "the tombstone imperative" with regard to air safety (simple but obvious design changes that would prevent accidents take a major crash with multiple fatalities to be addressed).

Were the EyeFi cards distributed with k-50's x2? I thought they were mobi. If they say mobi then they are not impacted by this announced end of life.
