Hmm. Are you sure there isn't an element of inference added to your observation? Criticism of a reviewer's methodology, let alone their silence on salient facts, is not necessarily just defending a brand or product. In any event, I don't think it's a bit curious that people tend to defend their choices: that's just human nature, and nothing to be wondered about.

It would be an odd voluntary group of people who didn't have an element of this amongst them. However, the main purpose of this particular forum, as both stated by the owner and practised by most members, is to provide a resource to assist users of Pentax photographic equipment, not to act as a cheer squad for the brand, even if it seems that way at times.
