Size question when shooting RAW
I typically shoot RAW on card 1 and JPEG on card 2 simultaneously. My question is when shooting RAW and you select a smaller JPEG, is the RAW file also shot with a smaller resolution? I tried an experiment but didn't have my tripod out when I did, so I'm not sure if the results are because I changed the JPEG size or a slight difference in how I held the camera. I took a picture of a flower arrangement on our table at both Large three stars (on my K-3) and then again at XS 1 star. I compared the two raw sizes and one was 28K and the other as 26K. Not a huge difference. So was the size difference due to RAW also recording a smaller pixel size or was it because of the variation in how I might have held the camera. Or in other words, does shooting RAW always record at the highest resolution?
