I missed the shot.

I saw this spectacular scene last night at sunset.
It was completely out of this world. It happened within a short period of time and everybody was in awe in the neighborhood.

As the clouds was bright yellow from sunset a rays, a huge wing span shadow of an eagle appeared in the clouds.
The shadow had to be about three meters high. Then what emerged from the clouds after a few seconds was a small eagle.
It was so dramatic that everybody was looking up. Then it happened again. This time the shadow was that of an eagle coming in to catch a prey with claws extended. People almost ducked as it approached.

Right there I understood what was happening. The eagles we caught in the sun rays and cast a shadow as the rays hit the clouds.

I rushed into the house to get my camera because I knew it wouldn't last long.
I came out of the house holdning a camera and then I saw that it was my broken MX.
I rushed back in and grabbed my K-30 and rushed out but the third eagle had gone through the clouds.
I knew I had lost the moment. I was bent over panting for air, cursing myself for grabbing that stupid MX...

......then I woke up. Still panting. Hell NO!

I dont even have a stupid MX.

I have dreams where I totally fail to take brilliant pictures - either I have to run to get the camera and my limbs are leaden or something gets in the way, or the equipment just won't - work - the shutter button is soggy and just doesn't fire, or the AFwon't engage or whatever. Needless to say, I rarely have problems with the equipment in real life, and most of the frustrations are from having no place or time to stop the car - but still the dreams come

I wonder how Freud would interpret that...

I recently dreamt about a $10,000 / month apartment on a 55th floor somewhere with shag carpet and shag furniture.. followed by a dream of sleeping in the snow and a dancing talking hedgehog. Sometimes I think my brain is melting while I'm sleeping. Dreams are very strange things.

Shagadelic, baby, to paraphrase Austin Powers.

My recurring dreams centre around air travel. I go into the airport short of time. It is always an airport I know and have been to - e.g.. in the dream, it's "This is Vancouver Airport and I am flying to Sydney, Australia in fifteen minutes." But for some reason the pre-security area is just one huge maze of SHOPS, duty-free and otherwise, and I can never find the boarding gate or the familiar parts of the airport I recognise in reality.

(Just a couple weeks ago, though, I went through Sydney outgoing customs and immigration/security screening and my dream was shown finally to be real - everywhere around me as far as my line of sight could detect had ACTUALLY BECOME a gigantic open-plan duty-free store, and it took me a full minute to work out which way to go and several more to actually walk through it and emerge into boarding-gate land).

Where such dreams coincide with photography, it usually involves me having left my camera on the wrong side of Security and not having enough time to go fetch it and still make my flight, or I go back and the shops are all different and I can't find the boarding gate again. Once or twice I have held some sort of amazing Pentax camera in my hand, but it's no model you will ever see described here. Or worse, it's the K-1 but with the aperture coupler and analogue TTL restored, or some other heartbreakingly never-never variant.

Don't worry, I have reality where I totally fail to take brilliant pictures.

I haven't had dreams like this, but I have spent an entire night dreaming of looking at the world through the different lenses...
