Cool article, though I might disagree with Mike about choice of lenses I also might suggest that if he insists on using a hand-held meter, an SV would be as good as a Spottie, IMHO.

It is also good to see Ned Bunnel chime in with a pitch for Eric Hendrickson's service and repair work. I agree with many of the commenters that the price of MX and Spotmatic bodies is likely to spike.

Meh. I've got a black ME and an Olympus XA that need new light seals. Then I'm set

I usually replace my own seals and foams, but deferred to a service tech for my Olympus XA. Replacing the seals requires a partial disassembly and I am just clumsy enough to possibly wreck things.

The little competition between Pentax and Zeiss on a 50 was one of the reasons I went with the Pentax Brand. Great Glass. As time went on I settled with a ST 35/3.5 as my Normal Lens and stayed with a little wide as normal since.

Someone got a good deal on a black MX w/ M 135/3.5 on Shopgoodwill tonight. $56 before shipping. But it's from Florida so I wasn't willing to go higher than $50...

In addition to the normal assortment of K1000s, Spotmatics, and MEs there are at least 4 silver MXs and 2 Pentax spot meters...

After reading the article I did a little eBay search. Seems prices have surged the past 3 or 4 years. Good thing I've got several working copies.
