If Pentax goes down, it opens up business opportunity for companies that make migration tools like adapters for using Pentax lenses. We may see new migration path that is not existing now. I will chose the path that is more friendly towards Pentax lenses. My favorite is Fuji followed by Sony. I do have 4 Pentax bodies that I can use.

Honestly, all of the alternatives suck in some major way(s).

Buy used Pentax is my answer, too.

I would keep using K mount cameras till they give out. I suppose second best, I'd get some Sony FE mount and continue with it. Wouldn't be great, but at least I could use the same glass with an adapter.

But as others have said, seems pretty unlikely and while k mount offerings are more spread out now than they used to be, they are still the best cameras on the market (that's not a question, just a fact).

Just what makes you think Pentax is going to disappear? What all that equipment is just going to vanish? Mister Mxyzptlk playing one of his tricks on Superman without a doubt.

If every Pentax item ever made vanished I'd be shooting Panasonic since I have several of them and a few lenses. But it is just a matter of practicality - I have some of their gear and I don't dislike it. It isn't a decision of merit for best platform.

If pentax stopped making cameras it truly wouldn't ruin it for me because I'm solidly still in the film/manual focus camp and older Pentax gear is awesome for that.

But, since it is a poll I voted for Leica. Back in the day I have shot Leica side by side with a Pentax 645 system and a Pentax Pz-1p/Mx system. The way I shoot, which is basicall prime lenses in the 24-100mm range, Leica m cameras rule...and so does Pentax. Leica is, frankly, too expensive for me to purchase though, but if forced I could make do with a Leica M and two lens set up.

I don't see "none" as an option. I have a perfectly good working body with fairly low shutter count that I expect will last me another five years at minimum. I am also happy with the lenses on my shelf, also in excellent condition.

Ask me in five years...

P.S. I hope the Sony thing goes well with no buyer regret. There is a huge immediate depreciation on camera gear and vendors will ding you postage both ways in a "buy-to-try" scenario (often add a restocking fee too).

Edit: After a bit of thought and reading through a few more of the responses, I would quickly pick up a lightly used K-3II (before the prices double) just to have the Pixel Shift and Astrotracer option.

If Pentax brand would somehow dissappear I would buy Ricoh K-mount stuff.

Also this thread shows how loyal Pentaxians are to their brand. I didn't expect that many to say they'd still use the gear even after Pentax is gone.
Brand-loyalty nothing. I am shooting Pentax because the product and feature set is a good fit to my style of shooting and because quality is high.

I suspect at the time Pentax disappears, several of these others makers may be gone too.
Olympus and Nikon would likely lead the lemming parade followed closely by small format (24x36mm and smaller) Pentax and Fuji.

I'd rather shoot with homemade pinhole cameras than buy a Sony.
I know people who shoot both and their preference seems to be evenly split.

The poll assumes that all of the listed brands would still exist, but one or more also might be out of the camera business.

Like others I would buy K-mount digital bodies (several) second hand and keep them going for as long as I could.

Following that I would look for mirrorless solution that had an adaptor to mount my K-mount glass.
