Another shot
In New Zealand the house sparrow is an introduced species and is far from endangered, they are everywhere. As a former grapegrower we would be quite happy to have as many as possible taken back to where they came from. We call them flying mice.

The Cockies (Farmers) here feel exactly the same as you Metal278
over here our biggest threat is the Indian Minah bird

Personally, I don't mind the Sproggies (Sparrows) but I do prefer indigenous or Native species.
Anyhow, lets not highjack the thread they look cute in their native habitat.

Cheers

Sparrows are also called Spadgers here in England, I see from laurie02's post that in Australia they are also called Sproggies, any more location dialect names?

They are Spuggies in the North East of England. By the way I googled Spadger and found a completely different meaning.
