Average age of Pentax users

At 77, I am so old I am beginning to wonder if I should start selling off some of my collection so others don't have to deal with it upon my demise! However, I am not going to sell the 645Z , 5645D, or K-1 no matter how old I get!

I don't know about that! My buddy is 80 years old and he is still shooting occasional weddings and keeping up with his grandson who is 30. As far as thinning the herd, I don't have nearly the collection you have and I am thinking about letting go of the stuff I don't use much.

Now I know why I'm a Pentaxian... it's the one demographic where I'm still way below average age at 46.

Ya, but look at all us old geezers who think of you as just a young whipper snapper. It's hard to get respect.

Good points. Actually, I am thinking more about getting rid of some old Canon AE-1s, beat-up F-1s, Canon FD/FL lenses, Pentax 645 that duplicates a newer Pentax 645N, some of the Pentax 645 A lenses where I also have the equivalent focal length in FA or D FA versions,, some old flashes, some old Minolta lenses, andmaybe some other old stuff that I never use. Who really needs 10 50mm lenses? Why should anyone harbor 7 different 135mm lenses when none of them are particularly distinguished? Do I really need a pocketable Canon G-12 camera with flash and extra batteries? Maybe I could let the Pentax K-01, K-7, and K-20 cameras. If I could get rid of all this stuff, maybe I could finance the acquisition of the Pentax-D FA 35mm or something real special from Zeiss!

Nah, 46 is a great age. Young enough to pretend that death isn't just around the corner, still able to be pretty physically active, but old enough to be a wise greybeard to the 20-somethings.

Ya, one thing I forgot to mention. As a high school teacher, I was 39 the last time one of of my female high school students hit on me. At one point I cut her off and said "Do you know how old I am?" "No" , "39" 'No". I showed her my drivers license. She was so embarrassed the next day she dropped my class.

Not everyone has your suave sophistication. When I was in high school it was like winning the lottery to have a high school girl hit on me.

I was late maturing, when I was in high school I was still afraid of girls. I know some made some moves looking back, but at the time I was oblivious.

I played football, tennis, baseball, hockey, volleyball and basketball, many with huge juggling jobs with overlapping seasons. Where was I supposed to find time for girls?

Demanding creatures they are.

And the biggest cohort is the one whose members were teenagers or young adults when Pentax was at the height of its glory days

I like to tell myself that I'm oblivious to all of the beautiful women hitting on me.

I'm still oblivious, we'll be in the grocery store. Someone starts talking to me, we have laugh or two... Tess says "that woman was hitting on you." It's happened at least twice in 10 years.

Maybe but I have leverage. She is going to Europe on vacation in several months, and needs me to watch her two big dogs and several giant birds ( cockatoos) .

If she's like my sisters, there is no such thing as having leverage. Whatever leverage I might think I have, they have more. One has to stop oneself from entertaining these delusions. It can be so embarrassing.

I'm glad Pentax Forums is a wheelchair-friendly zone, I'm turning 52 on Sunday.
