I say that BigMackCam should be banned because he has used the P word several times in this thread.

A big part of the extra cost here in the UK is that our cameras have their controls on the opposite side to the rest of the world, as with our cars. You can get an idea of the extra manufacturing cost from this snap of my old *ist:
I always buy Pentax UK imports because I'm left-handed, but it's a bit risky due to lack of warranty support and compatible parts in the US.

I think the price being cheaper in the US based on USD to Euros is the reason why Sony released the a7iii first in Europe. Because if it was released in the US first, I think many Europeans would have ordered from US instead. Those Europeans who want it first and are willing to shell out cash for it, will get it at a higher price even though they know it is more expensive.

There's a joke about bad drivers and chaotic traffic: In America you drive on the right, in Britain you drive on the left, in [country] you drive in the shade.

where I grew up in rural Illinois the roads were " crowned " ( raised slightly in the middle ) so they drained to the sides

you drove in the middle until you saw oncoming traffic or were approaching the crown of a hill or an intersection

one other problem

at the right time of year, lasting for 3 months or so, corn 6 feet or higher being grown in the fields from ditch to ditch, you could not see down the intersecting road until you started to enter the intersection

it got interesting at times
