A lot of times it's when I can go out shooting, so I have to make do. Since I'm not a pro and don't make any money, I can shoot whatever strikes my fancy.
I find out that CCD sensors handle the harsh light much better than CMOS sensors, so I'll usually have my K10D with me, but always.

The CCD seems to maintain rich colors even in full sun... as long as the lens is up to the task of course.
You can usually find places where there's sun rays just coming through in the shade, and these are usually the pictures I end up liking best.
Also, when you use some PP techniques to make your picture more film-like and have that nostalgic feel, it seems to add to the story the picture tells. This looks like my memories of hot summer days when I was growing up (or is it my memory of TV shows? lol...)
