You would not be disappointed. Very intelligent. Also very independent. Comes from a few hundred years protecting goats and sheep high in the Pyrenees Mts with no human to give orders. They made their own decisions and that trait remains with the breed today. Sometimes I'd want Cider to do something and he'd give me this look like "yeah, I'll get back to you on that."
They also bark a lot at night. Their way of letting the bad guys, both two and four legged, know that there is no easy pickin's here. Move along. But their demeanor with other animals is amazing. All our goats, both young and old, sensed there was nothing to fear from Cider. Other dogs on the property made them very nervous. But not Cider. The does were even more than happy to let Cider help clean off a newborn when he chose to. Sorry. I could go on for ever telling Cider stories.
