Raffle multiple cheaper cameras vs K-1?

Was curious to know people's thoughts if for example 2 KP's or 3 K-70's or certain lenses of similar value were being raffled off instead of only one winner of a K-1? In other words, risk it all for the K-1 or increase chances to win something of lower value? For me, I really am interested in the KP but I think I'd still rather risk it all for the K-1

Risk it all? Where's the risk?

The reason why this raffle grabbed the attention of forum members is the pure extravagance. They might as well be offering a week in Iceland, airfare and lodging included.

✊Role the dice!!! Winner takes all 🙌
At one of our local sporting events they changed there 50/50 raffles. Its now 12.5%/12.5%/12.5%/12.5%/50% (four winners) I stopped playing. But a lot of people like it.
If I'm going to win something that's all luck I want to win it all 😁
Not that multiple items would be bad!!! But if I'm going to use up all my luck let it be on the "GRAND PRIZE"

It's like with lotery's......the one with the big price sell more tickets.

So However great the idea is for 2 KP body's. ......you never reach the 40.0000 markpoint for posts on the forum.

The other point, of course, being that the K-1 has been replaced by the MkII, so Adam might have been able to get a better deal on it with B&H than with a current camera

The main reason lower value prizes work less well is that it is then more likely that price was not the deciding factor in whether the raffle entry population already have the goods on offer - the more affordable the prize, the more people will have decided against buying it themselves for other reasons

The K-70 isn't so interesting, if someone really like to buy one then he can. (Maybe skipping one summer trip...) The KP is more tempting, but the K-1/K-1II what many of us really want and can't afford.

In my view a prize of this nature should be something that ordinary folk wouldn't be able to afford, so it is best to offer a top range camera. That sort of member might also not be able to buy a new FF lens for the K-1 body, so it might have made more sense for the prize to have been a K-1 + at least the D-FA 28-105, in perhaps a Double Summer Giveaway. My hope is that the winners fit the described profile, rather than each prize going to someone who already has a K-1. (I am not entering the draws, being very happy with Pentax APS-C.)

I don't know how much "risk" there is with this contest. The risk your wife will leave you because you spent too much time posting on the Forum? Otherwise, you aren't spending any money on raffle tickets and there are three (now two) chances this summer to win one. That's certainly better odds than for most lotteries.

On the contrary, it's better to offer body only IMHO, because this way the lucky one(s) will have to buy the lenses, and contribute to the well-being of Ricoh-Pentax!
...unless they already own a K-1/1II of course, in which case they already are praiseworthy and commendable

of course, when you win the K-1 there's the option to turn around and sell it anyways...

PF has in the past given away multiple, lesser value prizes, including lenses, APS-C bodies and various accessories. The excitement
about this promotion is definitely the K-1 as >the< prize.

Adam picked right, the bigger prize is a larger draw. The reality of math says your approach would be better for the end users in terms of reward vs odds, but the human mind rarely works logically with math.

Frankly this is such a generous and awesome contest/giveaway I would be happy even with worse odds.

I'm not sure what you are asking.
Are you asking about our willingness to enter "raffle" {which cost very little} or about our willingness to increase post count {which could cost serious time}

Only interesting in a KP? Get lucky, win a K-1. Sell the K-1. Buy KP and lenses.

I don't see the rule "one entry per household" changing so your odds of winning will pretty much be the same - slim and none.

Well, the wife leaving or the boss complaining would be a risk and the odds are much beter, even better than in competitions for research funds in academia...
