I would not say it was the worst piece of equipment that I used, but it did get me started in photography.
A Kodak Brownie Box camera from the late 20's. On my families first trip to Yellowstone National Park I got a picture of Old Faithful in mid eruption that looked very close to the illustrations used by the Park Service. My older brother, said that it was (his words moderators) "stupid to put color film in that old box camera because the lens was not corrected for color film". Once we got back and had the images printed out, my father told him to can the attitude as that was a really nice picture. Now in this day and age - go to Yellowstone and shoot six frames over a two week period, that was my introduction into photography.

I would love to show the image, but somewhere over time it disappeared. It does stick in my head as being pretty close to the images of Old Faithful erupting on the signs used in the park. I have been to Yellowstone eight times with various cameras (all film) and I have never been able to recreate that image or even come close.

In term of image quality, features and performance, probably the worst photo equipment I have is a Fuji "medium format mirror-less camera." (to describe it as such is a serious stretch, although technically accurate...). No, it's not one of the 6x7 or 6x9 texas leicas, and it's not digital. I like that I can easily share the photos i make with it, it's not an intimidating camera, and, despite the low resolution and dynamic range, colors are quite nice.

I got an old pentax ME from the dusty shelf of an old antique shop. Disassembled the lens and cleaned everything. The objective was basically sand blasted, totally useless... except that it gives an awesome effect in the bokeh in bright lighting. Translation: I pretty much never use it.
