Black Friday Sales apparently don’t happen on Black Friday

It’s nearly a week since we had a Friday the Thirteenth, but no-one seems to have run a Black Friday sale.

Odd, but in the era of Fake News it shouldn’t be surprising.

On the bright side, of course, it means that there’ll be Black Friday sales after the launch of the D FA50/1.4.

...isn't Black Friday meant to be on the... 23rd of November this year?

is Australia a country where the American holiday known as Thanksgiving is celebrated?

the OP appears to be from there

perhaps they have another type of " Black Friday " sales system

No we do not celebrate thanks giving, nor black Friday sales, but there has been last year i think a black Friday sale, maybe to keep sales here depending on the exchange rate, black Friday here is about past bush fires.

Just another sign of getting older, I imagine. Friday the 13th used to be Black Friday. Commerce seems to have redefined it.

No and yes, in that order, although I must say that our first European settlers almost starved to death, too.

The US origin of the term is different to the rest of the world. Friday the thirteenth was considered to be an unlucky day, and was sometimes known as Unlucky Friday or Black Friday, here.

For the superstitious, having a black cat cross your path on Friday the 13th was something to be feared!

All Hallows Eve has been around almost as long. It’s Trick or Treat that’s the import.

There are good deals year-round. In the camera industry, many coincide with major trade shows, so we tend to get a lot of deals in the fall and spring, with not too many in the summer. Of course, there are exception to the norm- that's why we offer price alerts through the deal finder. In the future we'll be looking to integrate Australian dealers, but right now it's US only:

Amazon Prime day didn't happen on the 13th, it was the 16th. But it must have seemed like it to the Amazon techs when the server crash happened...
