I'd like to thank everyone for their input. Quite a few great ideas and different approaches to the problem. I really appreciate them all. I will probably go with a inexpensive track light, but will look more closely into the lens/light bulb options. I will try to take a picture of the whole arrangement when I am done, and post it here.

Well, the arrangement ended up being a $9.99 track light from Lowe's hardware. This quick iPhone snap doesn't do it justice because it looks great for us. Thank you all for all your help.

Nice shot! It looks like the track light did the trick.

Great shot! Now you'll need to redesign the whole room around it! Slick and black would be my pick.

Wait for the energy bill. You know, running costs.

Yeah, thanks guys. I wish I could limit the light just to the print and not the whole wall around it. I will look into it, maybe some shades around the light bulbs, sounds tricky but definitely possible. Ideas?

I know, we'll have to keep an eye on that.

You could always grow some nano carbon tubes on your wall. Have a look into "vantablack" (that's the commercial name).

Fantastic shot. I can see why you went to the trouble and expense of making the print. The track lighting does a great job.

On a more serious note, if you could adapt a lens assembly that could focus on the wall, with a mask (like a slide projector) that would limit the light just to the picture.

I think lighting up the wall around the print is an excellent (and inexpensive) way to "frame" a large, dark print. With the loveseat below the print, the track lighting is also a good way to put light on people sitting there without brightly illuminating the entire room. If the bulbs are LED then energy costs are minimal. Good all the way round in my opinion.

I read that you old fashioned bulb not LEDs is the best way to get more natural feeeling of light. Modern light add a lot of blue.

This is the first ever print of this kind of size I have had made. Thanks and I'm glad you liked it.

Yeah, I thought about narrowing the light to just the print, but now I like it the way it is. Thank you both for your input.

The bulbs are actually halogen. The light seems to be soft and warm.
