No idea what this lens is or how it is used. What I do know is that is a good idea to clean your fingernails before taking pictures of your hand

Probably wouldn’t hurt to cut them too.

Thanks. I assumed that it was some ancient relic. Interesting to know that it is currently available. It seems that you can mount the thing on a Canon or Nikon with the use of an adapter (sold separately). I think I will pass.

A K-5 II for the low, low price of $1579! Body only, mind you.

Pentax K-5 Iis 16.3 Mp Dslr Body Only Black By Pentax 27075220812 | eBay

Why buy a K-1 when you can have this seven (or eight) year old classic?

Hmmm... a few observations and thoughts:

There are two custom rings, one in the front and one at the rear. I think the rear one is loose and has slipped off of the aperture ring. If the rear ring is intended to control the aperture setting, it seems a bit wider than it needs to be. The numbers on the aperture label seem to be upside down; perhaps it's intended to be viewed from the front of the lens.

The rings might suggest some sort of remote control for the focus and aperture, perhaps in a laboratory setting. But the teeth on the rings are spaced widely and seem rather coarse for a fine control of the focus.

The rings might have been custom made, again perhaps for a lab. However, the big honkin' machine screws seem out of place with the otherwise fairly precise construction.

Could it have been an arrangement to assist someone who had dexterity problems?

I'm amused that the lens is listed without any comment on the odd construction -- just as though the lens is normal.

For cinema or filmmaking?

Would there be other parts, which are missing?

I'll have to come back to this, I've seen some really bad deals over the years (like hundreds over their value) just nothing I can remember.

Stolen?
Doesn't exist?
Empty box?
The possibilities are endless.
