What interests me is that the original purchaser only wanted the glass (presumably elements), not the entire lens. Anyone know why ?
The only explanation that I can think of is that the lens elements went into some other sort of contraption. What that could be would make a very good story.

Using the glass to repair another lens makes absolutely no sense. I mean, why ruin a brand new lens to get an old one working again? I think the seller is omitting some crucial details.

One likely scenario: lens was dropped, ruining front element. Some of the rear elements then get used to fix another with bad fungus or separation issues. The other elements have no further use and gets binned. Barrel goes on ebay.

I suppose it could have been Sheldon, trying to build his Death Ray.

Obviously the one true scenario.

Now this one interests me :

Pentax K1000 50 mm lens Kit 35mm SLR Film Camera 27075045002 | eBay

The images are only of lenses which would (probably) fit the K1000, although with no photos of the mounts, one cannot be sure. BUT - none of the photos show a camera, and the listing is carefully worded so that, although a spec sheet for the K1000 is given, at no point does the vendor indicate that an actual camera is being offered. I can see someone not reading the listing, assuming a camera is included in the sale, but when making a claim, the advertiser could state in all fairness that no camera was actually offered. He/she has no feedback rating, and her/his other item appears to be a rusty, dirty Toyota knitting machine, although again this is not stated, just the model number.

Anyone any thoughts, or am I being too suspicious and literal minded ?

Yes, misleading title and weird listing. The photos of the lenses are awful--they appear to be take on the floor on a dirty carpet. Is that a shoe in the background of a couple of them?

Perhaps the funds are needed to purchase a vacuum cleaner.

I would stay away from this one.

For that sort of money, I would rather have a Samyang 135mm f/2 thank you very much.

I've messaged (via Ebay) the seller and asked him to post image(s) of the camera. So far, no reply - and no images.

I'm pretty sure I paid less for mine, and it came with a Super Program, A 50/1.7, A 28/2.8, and a flash...

I looked it up. $189.96 after shipping from California. November 2010...I wonder what the exchange rate was then...I miss those days on shopgoodwill...

No surprise. Stay away. Just makes no sense. Nowadays it’s obvious that a serious seller doesn’t hide behind words and shows at least one photo of each item included. Not to mention that shoe......
