Nice looking lens.

I see the mount has a mechanical coupling, what is that? The aperture is fixed at f11, so what connection to the camere is required?

Oh, and your bb code tag should end with /img, not /jpg.
The camera wants to know what aperture is in use or available, I guess.

Tag fixed, my bad.

£500 for a K1000 with 50mm F 1.7 lens plus a run-of-the-mill Hanimex wide angle and a zoom (worth 20 quid each?), an AF200 flash (10 quid?), and a shoulder bag. These K1000 prices are getting really silly.

The camera appears to have a hole (they say a "dent") in the bottom plate, and the standard lens is described as a "portrait lens" - funny I thought they were usually around 70 or 80 mm.

His other prices are excrutiatingly overoptimistic - Pentax-F 35-80 zoom, priced at £200 (yes, two hundred !), described as a 'superb' (as are most of his items, apparently) Tamron 70-300!!

Definitely a case of caveat emptor, one feels

When I see a feedback rating that poor, I generally pass the item by.

Hey now, go easy on those thrift store specials.

I shot this image with a Hanimex 135mm f2.8 M42 lens I picked up at a second hand store for $10 or $15.

By "run-of-the-mill" I meant they were the usual wide angle and zoom ranges - 28mm and 80-200mm. Nothing wrong with that but nothing to command a high price either. WRT Hanimex as a brand I know nothing about them, for better or worse, only that 3rd party lenses never fetch as much as the matching camera brand either when new or pre-used. I have some 3rd party lenses myself.

What the guy is selling is not a bad outfit (if that isn't a hole in the bottom plate); it is just insanely overpriced. In any case, the value of complete outfits on ebay etc is always less than the sum of the parts because a buyer will not necessarily want all the included items. For example I would not want the AF200 flash unit because the head does not swivel, and I always use bounce flash. At the most wildly optimistic, the Hanimex lenses, flash unit and bag together could not be worth more than £100, leaving at least £400 for the K1000 with its standard lens.

PS for American readers and others in sunny climates : in the UK, F1.7 lenses were usually sold as the kit lens in film days, even on most budget cameras, maybe because of our dull weather. I believe that an F2 lens was a more usual budget lens in the USA and elsewhere (correct me if I'm wrong). So in the UK a used F1.7 film era lens does not command a premium price..

Just saw a local Craigslist ad selling “2” used SD cards - price $30. Not clear if that’s for one or all (although ad says 2 cards, picture has 3 cards).

The picture shows (2) 128 MB and (1) 16 MB cards - MEGABYTE?!

Are people crazy? You can get a 5 pack of SanDisk 16 GB cards on amazon for less than this collection of used worthless cards.

Weirdly I had some old Smartmedia cards and Cardflash cards from the early fays of digital, all running and tested. Put them on the bay for .99p in case anyone wanted them as collectable plus some old digitals cant work with new high capacity cards and it turned into a bidding frenzy. Cant remember what they sold for but its was like £10 a card for the SMs.

Many very old digital cameras will only recognise similar generation, and low capacity, cards - so, maybe there's a "select" marketplace for those?

There are groups on Facebook dedicated to "vintage" digital cameras...The one I'm in "vintage" is anything made before 2015. My K-3 is "vintage"...

Has anybody heard of the Telor 85mm f/2?

"Exc+++" Pentax SMC Pentax-M 85mm F/2 MF Lens for K Mount From Japan C859 | eBay

At first glance, it looks great.

The brand is unknown to me. There seems to be nothing about it on this site. An internet search sheds very little light - mostly links to ebay listings etc. Not a good start.

About the best information is this:

http://forum.mflenses.com/viewtopic.php?t=14083

From Eastern Europe? So far, so good. But then it turns out that it is one of those wondrous lenses that will fit just about every camera on the market ever made.

Perhaps the picture of the lens mount will reveal what it actually is.

Oh dear. No lens mount at all. Just four holes to attach the lens mount of your choice. At least the ad states that:

You need an adapter for you camera.
What kind of adapter would that be? Just fire up your CNC lathe to make one, I suppose. Or perhaps a 3D printer? Heck yeah!

There ought to be a law against this sort of nonsense...

---------- Post added 2020-01-11 at 22:34 ----------

This what the elusive adapter looks like. Even more rare than the lens...
