Yep...I have oft times thought of a comparison to cars.

Vintage 1980s Ford, looks in great condition and seems to work ok, cant test it fully as I dont have a battery for it but steering wheel turns wheels and pedals go up and down. Dont know model as I dont drive. Comes complete with some cushions. Starting bids at £20k
Pictures would focus on cushions.

In fairness I have seen a few idiots selling cars in my time with ads like
Ferrari 308GT £37k, some damage to front, windscreen cracked. Oil leak and cam noise. Steering box broken.

Translation....its had a serious front end crash, spares only available from Ferrari and likey to cost ten quid short of a new one to have it fixed.

I saw an ebay ad recently stating ‘could be repaired if have the right tools and expertise’ hmmmmmm that would apply to almost anything other than an aircrash.

Sellers just love to sell untested flashes.

"I can't test it because I don't have batteries for it."

You don't have any double A's? Yeah right.

Another bugbear of mine is sites like this one. They keep turning up in searches.

Voigtlander Nokton 58mm f/1.4 SL II S AI-S Lens, Black ? Pc Link Computers

No word on which lens mount you will get when you order, BTW. The picture shows the Nikon version.

Their asking price is the ebay price with a 50% markup. In this case they are slipping with their admin. The usual markup is 100%.

The worst part is that they have a reputation for not filling orders. There are many tales of woe from people who paid their money and have received nothing. Not even a reply to their email inquiry. Fools and their money do part ways easily, it seems.

The very worst part is that sellers in the classifieds use these fantasy world prices to justify as a starting point for their own exorbitant prices. Sigh...

Am I missing something ? Mine cost me a tenner and a cup of coffee for the seller.
You got a fairly low price. I've bought and sold a few copies for up to 230$ CAD, but nowadays they sell for about 100$ CAD. More than a tenner.

Then there's the other ones who list a PK lens as 'For Pentax MX camera' (if that is what they used it on), not realising the concept of 'universal mount'. Or the ones who advertise a Pentax A or M lens, then say 'May fit Pentax'. And the ones who advertise a neck strap as 'For DSLR'.

How about the 37mm UV filter advertised as suitable for Pentax, Canon, Nikon, Minolta, Leica etc. - the list goes on to include every brand under the sun. Never mind the inconvenient truth that there are very few lenses with a 37mm filter thread. The nett result is that these nonsense ads appear in my searches. Ugh!

Another day, another overpriced Pentax in the classifieds. Sigh...

Pentax K100D, AF220T and F35-80. Also a Tamron 70-300 , but memory card and batteries not included. All this for the low, low price of ZAR6000.

Pentax Camera - Cameras - 1061765904

To put the asking price into perspective, a Canon EOS 4000D twin lens bundle is ZAR6999!

A brand new K5 II for $2004.49? Only on Amazon:

amazon.com : Pentax K-5 II 16.3 MP DSLR Body Only (Black) (OLD MODEL) : Slr Digital Cameras : Camera & Photo?tag=pentaxforums-20&

The seller comes up as Ricoh. Me thinks somebody make a mistake there.

The deluded South Africans are at it again. You can have a minty fresh point-and-shoot Pentax film camera for ZAR2000. That is about USD120, for those who are wondering.

Pentax camera | Despatch | Gumtree Classifieds South Africa | 738670223

Or you can have a brandy new, fresher than minty Canon IXUS for R1499.

Tough choice...

Ah yes. The common lens for a Spotmatic: a 49mm Vivatar Skylight (A1)

Also, did you know the ME was made in Germany?

An ME Super like you've never seen before. Do these people ever look at the name on the camera? At least they didn't say it was a K1000! :-

The Pentax ME super has a shutter speed of 1/1000 second that gives you amazing still image of any moving object. The Sync Speed of 1/100 in this Pentax 35mm camera produces clear and bright image with great sharpness. You get easy 39 exposures in 36 exposure roll with this Pentax film camera.
Don't know where to start with that mis-information. The prospect of getting 39 exposures off a 36 film should bring the bids though
