A Minolta 50mm f1.7 for a mere £231. Once you take it out the box you are down £200.

The box is damaged, and a corner witnesses that it has been dropped with the lens in it at some time. Perhaps not a big issue functionally but, while I am prepared to pay more for original box and packaging, if the box is damaged it negates that "brand new" feel to the thing that I expect the box to provide.

The price is insane anyway. A work colleague of mine bought a new Minolta X300 with that f1.7 lens back in the day for about £120. It was entry level kit. Some Ebay sellers pitch it that f1.7 lenses were something rare (as opposed to f2.0 lenses), but in the UK (at least) f1.7 primes were pretty standard on manual focus film camera kits from at least the 1970s.

Yes I had seen the other items, frankly the prices are completely bonkers.

I think he is either on drugs or mahbe acting as money launderer for the cartels he also has a Canon T50 he wants £382 for

I bought a Tamron135mm a few months back and it was just like new, in a box, with instructions, dealer display tags, waranty card, silica gel bag and case. Outer box was near mint and inside it was hard to believe it had ever been opened paid peanuts for it on eBay.

Lord Lucan.....yep another UK bod here and I cant ever remember seeing a standard set up with anything other than a 1.7 or 1.8 depending on brand. Must have been something ro domwith our dismal weather.

My first SLR was a Praktica Nova 1 from Dixons with an f2.9 (?) Meritar pre-set lens, way back in 1969. Couldn't even afford the Domiplan, let alone the Tessar !

For once, words fail me :

Pentax k1000 Camera & SF7 Plus Lots Of Lenses | eBay

Apparently the 'lots of lenses' (I can count five, carefully positioned to be anonymous) alone are worth the asking price. Er - £70 each ?

I only see one lens there worth anything at all, the A28 f2.8, and it can be had for a fraction of the price for the lot. In fact I have one, cost me about fifty bucks or so.

Lets see. F 35-70 & A 28 on the cameras. A 70-210/4, M 50/2, Sigma AF 70-210 and a Sigma 28 or maybe 24. Plus a Macro-teleconverter...

But, of course, there's absolutely no info on the Net, so he has no way of checking them out .....

A Contax brochure from the 1980s for £28.80 plus £9.50 postage!

CONTAX RTS III-137-139 35mm SLR CAMERA LARGE DELUXE BROCHURE -CONTAX | eBay

Glossy brochures like this were free to pick up from racks in photo shops once, and I have quite a few, especially Pentax ones. I have this exact Contax brochure and it does catalogue the Contax system at the time. I was wondering if they were worth anything on Ebay (I'd keep the Pentax ones) and found this one for sale - but £38 ?!

This seller has many other brochures around that Buy it Now price, but to see realistic prices on Ebay you need to look at the auctions to see how the bidding is going. In fact I saw no bids at all for any of the Contax, Canon, Nikon or Pentax brochures. Seems no-one is intested in old brochures, so I'll keep them; they don't take up much room .

Nope, its a telescope by Skywatcher made for a non UK market its a bird-jones design, seldom a good thing in a telescope. Pentaflex is just the name Skywatcher use in a different market. Skywatcher is made by a company called Synta and most of their stuff is very good, this is obviously a horror from them.
By the way Pentax make excellent telescope eyepieces some would say the best ever made but opinions differ.

Just amused me that people read what they expect to read - apparently not heard of a Pentaflex, so decided it must mean Pentax.
