K1000 prices have gone mad, even dealers are selling them at crazy prices and I have been sorely tempted to unload mine but I just cant bring myself to do it as I know I would end up regretting it.

There are lots of these horrid little things (and similar) on Ebay :

SUNPAK GX17 FLASH GUN UNIT - WORKING | eBay

But few of the sellers give any warning that they could wreck a modern camera. Some do say "for mechanical/older cameras" but that is a rather weak hint. I wonder if you could sue the seller for damages if that happened.

I have one myself. It was my father's, and he was using it on a Minolta SRT in the 70s/80s. I have measured the trigger voltage and it is an eye-watering 265 volts. Hate to think what that might do to an electronic DSLR. I am now going to throw it away rather than risk someone putting it on a camera some time in the future.

Odd, the “original packaging” looks to be for a Vivitar 28 mm lens.

Some people seem to think that "K1000" is/was a brand name - they certainly treat it like one.

That, or they think that the Pentax brand began and ended with the K1000, which, while it was a good camera for many people's needs at the time, did cease production 23 years ago. Perhaps that is a factor in why some people, even other ILC photographers, are surprised that Pentax make cameras today (see the "Are we really THAT rare?" thread) - they think Pentax was the K1000 and nothing else.

The cleaning fluid is made from pure pixie tears, so as not to damage the pixie dust.

I have numerous friends who took photography classes using K1000’s and they still can’t figure out why I love and still use Pentax cameras. They truly think Pentax IS the K1000 and it’s cheap 50mm F2 Standard lens. Proud to say, I’ve never owned a K1000, nor do I intend to.

One more thing.

The Pentax lens in the photo has f2.8 on the aperure scale, not f2.

And of course there is considerable confusion regarding the focal length too. The Vivitar box shows a focal length of 28mm. The auction says 50mm. With the only photo of the lens having the lens cap on, we have no idea what the actual focal length is.

I think I am going to send this guy a message and ask some questions.

Stay tuned . . . . . . . . . .

The photo is obviously of a Vivitar 28/2.8. But which one?

You will need to splash out £27 for these two film spools, yet I can buy a roll of film for about £5 :-

120 or 220 Plastic Film Spools medium format Holga Diana Pentax 6x7 67-Set of 2 | eBay

The seller assures us that "The item has been inspected, cleaned, and repaired to full working order". Repaired ?? I wonder what was wrong with them before they were repaired? And what is Holga-Diana anyway?

Why would you need a 120 220 film spool anyway? Unless your camera was missing a take up spool. Now a 620 spool...

Heard of Holga...I have a Diana...Holga-Diana?
