I've messaged the seller, complimenting them on the quality of the pictures, but suggesting that images of the actual items might be a good idea !

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Listing ended - 'item no longer available' (whatever it actually was).

Further update :

Back again, still no info

He also seems to have an accomplice with the same ideas :

The aroma of Rattus norvegicus is wafting into my nostrils.

Here's my latest Ebay flop. I'll bet that you've never heard of this one before.

I purchased a digital camera from a Japanese seller. He didn't mention in his ebay description that the camera menu was all in Japanese.

When I received the camera and found that the menu was in Japanese (which I don't read), I thought, OK, I'll just change the language in the menu to English. No such option with this camera.

I contacted the seller, who agreed to give me a partial refund of about 40% of the value of the camera. I decided to take the refund and keep the camera.

All's well that ends well. I spent an afternoon with an English version of the operating manual and "Google Translate". I will only be shooting RAW files and manual focus lenses, so many of the menu settings were not of concern to me. I was able to set up the camera to shoot RAW files, and it works great. I just hope that nothing happens in the field where I need to change a menu setting.

Sony A350 digital camera with 14mp CCD sensor.

I really like the 10mp sensor in my Pentax K10D, and intend to do a shootout between my K10D images and my A350 images.

My friend in the Cook Islands has the same problem with the Nissan Leaf electric vehicle he bought used from Japan. The vehicles for international export have different language options for the displays but not those for the domestic Japanese market.

I found him a few companies in New Zealand that will reprogram the header unit for English and add GPS maps for New Zealand.

A firmware update might help, but I am taking a wild guess on this.

For extra giggles, the lens is wrong as well. The pictures show a Tokina.

This got me thinking, and I looked around. Sure enough, here is the K1000:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pentax-A3-SLR-Vintage-Film-Camera-w-Tokina-AT-x-2...S/124132088304

The seller is a charity, and they actually have some decent stuff. Like this:

A3 - K1000 so easy to mix up. Prinzflex - Tokina indistinguishable..

If you are talking about the Sony camera, that’s a no. Japan market Sony, Olympus, and some other brand cameras are hard locked to only display Japanese. It is an anti-grey market thing.
