Is he having a laugh? £100 for a teleconverter I've never heard of? But at least we get to hear a bit of his life story, as is often the case with sellers who expect to get nearly as much or more than it cost new.

Kax? Who in their right mind thought up that name? Here is what it conjours up in British slang : https://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/cack

I think, looking at the single image, it is actually a Teleplus - the 'Kax' is probably intended as the mount information.

BTW, I have often wondered if the word 'Kak' is the origin of the word 'Kakhi' for soldiers' ufinorms - as in https://www.thefreedictionary.com/kak#:~:text=noun%20(S.,shoes%20were%20covered%20in%20kak.

Some more pictures have since appeared, and the price reduced to a more reasonable £25. Is he reading this thread? The body cap on it says Teleplus and the other end has a genuine Asahai Pentax lens cap.

The word kak is widely used in South Africa, but I don't know the origins. For those who are wondering, it translates to "brown stuff with a soft texture and strong odor that is not mentioned in polite conversation."

One of the other pics shows "SOLIGOR" on the converter body - so probably actually from some "no-name" manufacturer, and not Teleplus.

Probably has its origins from the Romantic languages specifically cacare, Latin for "to defecate". The Spanish word "caca" or "kaka" stems from Latin. It is easy to imagine "kak" finding its way into Afrikaans as the Netherlands or parts thereof was under Spanish rule for quite some time.

You can look at the auction listing for my recent purchase but not spot the problem:

Vintage Antique James Swan Woodworking Chisel 2" Blade 12" Long Oak Handle | eBay

Here's the problem:

Seller says oops. I didn't really notice for quite a while. Otherwise it's a very nice chisel!

Hammerhead Flash Units with Missing Brackets

Why oh why are there so many hammerhead flash units on Ebay with the bracket missing? What do people do with the brackets? It is very frustrating Occasionally you see a bracket sold separately, but if it is for a specific branded unit they want almost as much as a complete unit, so they are obviously in short supply. The "For Spares and Repairs" units that might include a bracket don't cost much less either

Here is an example :
Vintage NATIONAL PE-381SG Japan Handle Flash Unit for film Camera SLR | eBay

Yeah, right, install one, just like that. I've been watching flash stuff on Ebay for some months now, and I'd never heard of National flash units until now, let alone know how to find a spare bracket for one. The seller is a dealer, so if anyone could find a bracket they could, but thay haven't, and it's near useless without one.

It least this guy points out there is no bracket; I think other sellers hope that you don't notice a detail like that - same with connecting leads, but that's a story for another day
