I don't carry a camera on me at all time beside my phone, but quite often I take one when I go out.
On most outings I would take the K5 iis with 18-185 but these days it's usually the Olympus TG-4. It was often problematic to carry both the DSLR around my neck and a baby in my arms...
When I'm out for work I usually have the company's Canon 650D with 18-135 and 10-22.

I got myself a Samsung NX100 with the 20-50mm folding zoom last year. I paid just over $100 for it. It is small enough to fit into a laptop bag or a coat pocket and looks like a point and shoot, which is nice for street photography. It packs an APS-C sensor and can shoot raw images. There is even a profile in Darktable for the lens.

It has worked out very well. I have captured some wonderful images with it. I have now expanded my Samsung kit with an NX1 body, 16-50mm f/2-2.8 and 50-150mm f/2.8. The NX1 with 16-50mm f/2-2.8 makes a useful but heavy go everywhere kit as well, by the way.

As for Pentax, I have walked around with my K-x and M 20mm f/4 or M 50mm f/1.7.

I try to wear only jackets with inside pockets.
This way I can always carry a small fixed-lens 35mm camera with me.
All bets are off in summer.

Some loose fitting shorts perhaps? I was surprised to find I can slip my Q-S1 into several pairs of shorts I have - kinda a cargo pants style with some larger pockets that don't fit too tight.

I don't wear shorts or cargo pants, or use a "man bag" or belt pack.
I may be the only one you see wearing a (light) jacket on a summer day.

I'll bring a camera on anything that's more than general socialising or work. The travel light / general purpose option is the Panasonic lx100. If taking pictures is the subject I'll bring this, it's the best shooting experience. If I need pictures of a subject I'll bring a dedicated system which today would be the K-1 and / or a small sensor superzoom.

Do you always carry a camera? What did you pick? Why? And no, I'm not counting cell phones for this!

I decided last fall I wanted something I could always have in a leather messenger bag that started off life following me to work and for simplicity now gets grabbed whenever I go out the door. My K3 II just didn't fit and seemed too much. I ended up grabbing a Sony a6000 on a special from B&H with the Sony 16-50 lens and a deep discount on the 55-210 that seems to get offered frequently as an add on with that base a6000 kit. I was attracted to having the APS-C size sensor, being able to use my Pentax lenses if desired with an affordable adapter, and the general size and weight fit what I was willing to lug. I really don't need a lot in my leather bag, so I joke I have a small camera kit I carry to work and manage to fit a few other items into.

Of course, a combination of GAS and curiosity landed a Q-S1 in my lap this past spring. It is starting to go for rides in the bag too. Just depends on my mood.

So, where have you all landed on carrying a camera daily?
To some extent, yes. When I'm out, I don't always want to carry a DSLR so I have a Leica that easily fits in my bag or pocket. About half of the time, the camera ends up staying in my bag for at least a week.

I'd wager with that, it becomes difficult to decide which one is backup.

It'd be cumbersome to take my camera to work with me. I'd like to get something like a GR or a MX-1 that I really could have on me at all times.

My DSLRs in a backpack in the back of my new to me Jeep...........always. But I have to say, I'm retired so I can do pretty much what I want to, aside from grocery shopping and doctor appointments, but I still have the backpack and tripod in case, in the back of Jeep.

Panasonic LX-7 is my pocket camera. GX-1 with a few lenses is the "toss it in who knows what" camera. K-3 is the, I'm going shooting camera.
