Edelkrone Motion Box: Expensive toy or really useful tool?

Motion BOX ? edelkrone USA Inc.

Thoughts? It's not cheap, particularly if you add the accessory items.

Right? But not cheap - you really need a specific need and then it is cheap. Hard to judge. I didn't see any weight limits or clear indicators of balance but at some point the lens / body balance needs to be addressed.

I see a market for child photographers who want to photograph crawling babies at their own level.

It's primary use would be on a tripod. While displayed on a table top, that's not how it's used. What's real clever is that two can be used together to have automated tilt and pan. This sort of stuff is most useful for movie shooters.

Motion time lapse is nice but imo it tends to get repetitive fast.

Sorry - my concerns were partially balance as in - it might fall over - but mostly balance as in strain on the motor. Using a long plate to rearrange the balance could bang into things as it tilted, rotated, etc.

It's maximum carrying capacity is 6.8kg. Obviously, balance could be an issue if not secured to a tripod or stand. But, at 6.8kg capacity it will cope with many camera and lens combinations.
