That kills me

Comments on the body aside, I am somewhat intrigued by the lens on that camera. The Sears/Sekor is a mythical thing, a unicorn of sorts. That one appears to be a 55mm f/1.4.

There are mirrorless cameras so how important can it be?

The one I love is;

"shutter speeds are slow, this should come right with use"

Incidentally basically never true. that line means a full teardown of the shutter mechanism is needed. Usually dried grease in the shutter mechanism.

Perhaps the writer has embraced wabi-sabi, the Japanese principle of Beauty found in imperfection.

My favourite one I haven't seen in awhile was "camera is in excellent overall condition. Am unable to test it because I don't have batteries to fit, so am selling it as is ...."

And the thing takes regular AA's

I think it's a f/1.8 - you can see the aperture ring in the second photo - unless it is a 1.4 and they just start the writing on the ring at 1.8, but I've never seen that before

Good point. I did not notice that detail and had also forgotten that Sekor made a 55/1.8. The worse part about that is that I own one.

I actually bought an MX last month that was described as having a problem with the light meter. When it arrived, it turned out to be a piece of fubar junk. Scuffed and scratched all over, broken self timer, mirror sticks on lower shutter speeds, the list of faults are endless. The seller offered a refund but I decided to keep it. Mailing it back is just too much trouble and expense. Besides, it came with an SMC Pentax A 50mm f/1.7 that I really want. Only trouble is that the lens turned out to have the dreaded aperture ring problem. I took it in for repairs. The whole experience has turned me off the auction thing for a while.
