The number of exposures , and the amount of work, describes why I don't see astrophotography as an old folks hobby. I basics won't do anything these days that involves being up after 10 o'clock. Last night's worldk series saw me go to be at the end of the 7th inning at 10:30, way past my bedtime. It ruined my life in terms of the lack of rest I'm experiencing to day. It's good to know there are some young folks who can take this type of image.

I'd be happy to do astro-photography if I could do it between 12 noon and 8 PM.

There are some of us who are naturally nigh owls. I love sleeping in until noon the rest of the world just doesn't' seem to think that is acceptable.

Now I just need to get out there more and start snapping so I can enter next year, maybe get some pointers from Pete_XL on how to really master processing too.

You might make it as a solar astronomer! (In a few years, there ought to be some sunspots to shoot.)

I actively dislike the lead shot in the article. It looks so unreal and staged. I love the first serious stack in the galaxies category - 20.5 hours of exposure with multiple filters. WOW. Good read.

If those photos are not inspiring, I don't know what is. Really demonstrates digital photography as art.

I found most of them amazing, but 2 or 3 seemed contrived and/or over processed - on the non astronomical parts of the photos. I'm sure those still took skill, but the aesthetic didn't work for me.
