He was from View, wasn't he?

We're talking about Field of View, right?

I thought we were talking about Depth of Field, not Field of View.

Apparently he was out of his depth.

Everything in that story, except the above quote which is actually not stupid, is way beyond that limit, so I cannot laugh with the rest of you, just roll my eyes all the way to the back of my head.

P.S.: Don't you (also) have to know your tools to be considered an artist? Isn't that what makes a difference between being just curious (maybe even talented) or being an artist?

Of course, there was no mention of stupidity in my post.

I had a good laugh reading this "story" ... end of story.
Cheers!

So this is turning into a real circle of confusion.

My inbox was graced with this from B&H this morning - now, who sends him the invite?

Welcome to the Pentax Forums, where confusion finds a forever home

(...all in jest, of course...)

Field, once thought shallow, is now found deep; though dead, none-the-less.

?

Dafb, there is no suggestion that the Instagram photographers are either actually stupid or don't know their camera or craft.

Alex Cooke observes the trendiness of wide open shooting and for satire purposes assumes they don't actually know any different. 'Ross' is fictional.

Look at the tag at the bottom of the article. It says 'Humor'.

IIRC, Cooke did a lousy Pentax review ages ago, but this is well written.

Well, I wanted to hire him to do my stepson's wedding, so I feel particularly foolish!

I think on our worst days, we can all be Ross...

But I think I will set my lens to 5.6 for a day or two in honor of the death of Field...

It's not so much about the "Field Guy" but the "Depth" he's buried...

This has all the similarities to the old joke about someone calling for computer service because their screen went blank, and ended up with the tech support asking the user to check if the computer was plugged in, to which he got the response "I can't see the plug, there is a power failure at the moment"
