Limited lenses stolen/missing in Puerto Vallarta

Not really sure how it happened, but they are GONE! If anyone sees or has heard anything, please help get my small collection back.

It was:

DA 15mm F4

DA 40mm F2.8

DA 10-17 Fisheye zoom

Both of the limited were of the black variety with green bands (SMC not HD)

All were pretty much immaculate, with original hoods and caps, both front and rear.

They were housed in a Pentax Limited Lens Case #2, along with a polarizer, an ND filter, and a lens cleaning cloth. Please be on the lookout for this stuff. They may be in Guadalajara, or by now they could've made their way anywhere.

Thank you everyone; this totally SUCKS!!!

Cameron

PS: Sorry, mods, not really sure where to put this.

the OP might want to check out Lenstag - Protect your camera equipment, images and help make the world safer for photography on iOS, Android and the web.

and see if the equipment can register now to try to help with recovery

Hard to tell. I either left them at a club, or they were taken from the rental car by a valet at the botanical gardens the next day, or he left the car open and someone else did (they were locked in the trunk, I believe; I never leave anything visible in the car) or else someone at the car rental place took them when we returned it. The last time I used them was at a music venue downtown.

And thanks for all the other bits of advice. I was hoping somebody might spot them for sale somewhere. I will dig the serial #s out.

Depressed,
Cameron

In the states, home owner's insurance will normally cover these kinds of losses, but of course you'll be out the deductible.

Do you know for sure they were taken from the rental car? Maybe covered by insurance.

I do make a little bit of money on the side with photography, so of course I'm automatically considered a 'professional' and home insurance will do nothing. Same with car insurance. I'm strictly part time, there should be a category for me, but it's either ridiculously expensive 'pro' insurance, as if I'm doing 10 weddings a week, or nothing at all.

The sucks. I'f you see any of these for sale near or in Mexico, please let me know. I can't really see them being a big seller in PV, but maybe Guadalajara.

Thanks,
Cameron

it takes such just a little bit of time for bad things to happen

I recently walked away from a bag containing two lenses, one the D FA * 70-200mm and the other the 21mm Limited when I left a restaurant

luckily, by the time I realized my error and made it back to the restaurant, no one had walked away with the bag which had been left in clear sight on the floor

there was no doubt that individuals around me knew that there were camera lenses in the clear bag.

there had been plenty of time for the bag to disappear but it didn't

I got very lucky

Almost the same here at a waterfront cafe in Bodrum, Turkey (one of the most bag-theft prone towns almost anywhere!) over a decade ago - my backpack (luckily not transparent!) was still on the seat when I went back about 20 mins later .
