How to say DSLR in German?

I know we have a few native German speakers here, how do you say or refer to a DSLR in German?

I ask because I'll be in Germany next month and am going to see a soccer/Fuβball game at third-division SpVgg Unterhaching. I'm emailing their fan coordinator to see if I can bring my K-3ii to the match, so I want them to understand what kind of camera I'm referring to.

If I say "Darf ich eine kleine DSLR-Kamera mit ins Stadion nehmen?" will they know what I'm talking about?

yes, usually they can understand that. you could say Spiegelreflexkamera as well.

DSLR should be a known term. Alternatively you could say Spiegelreflexkamera which should make clear what you want to bring. Bringing a camera shouldn’t be a problem (especially in the Dritte Liga) as long as it’s not looking like you shoot commercially like you would with a Canon 1DX with a big white telezoom.

From the Pentaxians.de forum:
Digitalen Spiegelreflex Kameras

Abbreviation/acronym DSLR is the same.

Germans like to combine words so don't be surprised to see it all as one word Digitalenspiegelreflexkameras

I've taken my Pentax film camera to a few Bundesliga games with no issues. However I've only taken the camera & 50/55mm lens, inside the soft EverReady case and never a camera bag & full kit.

Thanks everyone, that was quick. My plan is to bring my very small Domke bag with a K-3ii, 40mm limited, and probably 55-300PLM. Sounds like that's probably fine, but I'll check with Unterhaching to be sure.

That will be no problem.

It could be a problem, if you take a 70-200 for example, they could stop you. I have seen that before.

Spiegelfeflexkamera is more than enought. Germans mostly like things as simple as possible, but in some cases it might get complicated.

This takes me back to the days of my schoolboy German (40 odd years ago).My favourite word was the German for tram-stop,strassenbahnhaltestelle (hope I got that right!) literally, street-car-stop-place!

In the 3. Liga? Unterhaching's web page says you can't bring flagpoles over 1.5m, weapons, corrosive or foul-smelling substances, bulky items such as ladders, stools, chairs, boxes, or trunks, fireworks, animals, clothing with xenophobic or extremist slogans, and laser pointers. But it doesn't say anything about cameras or bags. I emailed them, so we'll see what they say.

In any case, a 55-300PLM isn't as big as a 70-200 f/2.8.

Announcement, Announcement!

Germany's longest word - Rindfleischetikettierungsüberwachungsaufgabenübertragungsgesetz - a 63-letter long title of a law regulating the testing of beef, has officially ceased to exist.

However. you'll be comforted to hear that the Welsh town of

Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch

is still on the map, and has a train platform almost long enough for the sign.
