any one like to photograph major league base ball games ??

MLB has released the dates of the 2020 regular season schedules for each team

" MLB has released the 2020 regular-season schedule. There are a lot of dates you’ll want to circle on your calendars -- starting with Opening Day on March 26, when all 30 teams play.

The 2020 season will have it all: rare Interleague matchups, the annual renewal of rivalries, superstars squaring off, games played abroad, special events like the Little League Classic and Field of Dreams game and more.

Here are the highlights for every team, plus its full season schedule
. . . .

2020 Major League Baseball Schedule Released | Chicago Cubs

times of the games are to be determined

most likely all stadiums will have netting from foul pole to foul pole next year

I never have good enough seat to make it worth bringing in my dSLR. I do bring my ME Super with a 50mm (I may attend 2 games/season).

I normally shoot ball with a Sigma 120-400 which is too big by far, and reaks of "pro", and even the DA 55-300 is too big. My local stadium regulates SLR's to lenses of no greater than 3" in length.

Well except for the guys with passes that is...

what you can use varies from ball park to ball park

usually you can find the restrictions on what camera and lenses you can bring into a MLB stadium by reviewing the rules set out in the information guide of the stadium:

" Cameras/Video Equipment

Visitors are welcome to bring video and still cameras into the ballpark; however, tripods are not allowed in the seating areas. Recordings may be used for personal viewing only. Any other use, distribution or commercial use is prohibited. Fans may not distribute any copyrighted game information without permission of the Chicago Cubs "

" Cameras/Video Equipment

Still and hand-held video cameras are welcome into the stadium, but tripods cannot be set up or block the view of other guests. Monopods are permitted into the ballpark. Camera lenses 12 inches or smaller are permitted into the ballpark. Flash photography and video production is strictly prohibited. "

St Louis Cardinals / Busch Stadium Camera Policy

Both still and video cameras for personal use are allowed in Busch Stadium provided that they do not interfere with the game or obstruct another guest's view. Camera lenses longer than the length of the camera body are prohibited in Busch Stadium. Tripods and monopods are prohibited to non-credentialed guests. Backpack camera bags are prohibited. Per MLB restrictions, recording of any field activity is strictly prohibited. The team name, logos and player likenesses are copyrighted material, none of which may be published without prior written consent of the Cardinals, MLB and other applicable third party rights holders. Persons deemed to be violating these rules may be escorted from the ballpark. The Cardinals reserve the right to ask guests to put cameras and video equipment away.
I stopped attending professional sports years ago. I won’t pay the money to park, eat and sit in their seat. Bold emphasis is theirs. I have no idea what ”longer than the length of the camera body” means.

Ha, I'd go with a questionable lens just to see if they would indeed measure it. I'd tell them that the lens is not retractable from the body...

I did once take a Q7 in with the 06 lens (70-200 equivalent I think) sitting in a field box. Got plenty of very close images of players returning to the dugout and 1st Base action

one new factor to consider at MLB games

I expect that the safety netting will be extended down the stands to the out field in all stadiums soon

so if your seats are not high enough, you will have to defeat the netting to get a clear photo of the action

I wonder what they would do if you take a bridge super zoom camera in

do you sign a statement indicating you will comply

this seems to say no photos can be taken at all

I have taken photos of Cubs vs. Cardinals games at Busch before and stadium personnel were aware of it - guided tour and game action

Unofficially " Grandpa " David Ross has been hired as the new manager of the Chicago Cubs

QuoteQuote:
. . . Despite not joining the Cubs until 2015, Ross quickly became a fan and clubhouse favorite. First baseman Anthony Rizzo dubbed him “Grandpa” because he was much older than the young core that played instrumental roles on the World Series team.

Even though he was signed in part to be Lester’s personal catcher, Ross never was content to take a back-seat role. That was evident during one of his first spring training workouts with the Cubs. Ross noticed that Rizzo didn’t execute a rundown properly and stopped the drill until Rizzo acknowledged he made a mistake.

A seventh-round draft pick by the Dodgers in 1998 out of the University of Florida, Ross reached the majors in 2002 and hit his first major-league home run off Mark Grace in a 19-1 win over the Diamondbacks.. . .

Despite reading the rules for several parks and thinking my DSLR would not be allowed, once inside, I saw all sorts of people with Canons, Nikons, Sonys, etc. Next year I will try my luck bring my K-1 into the park.
