It's only "dead" in the sense that no new A-mount gear is being developed. The upside to that is, I'm not concerned about what is or might be coming next. I'm content with my Hasselblad HV in terms of functionality, performance and image quality - it was superb when released, and hasn't become any less capable with age
Any limitations I encounter are to be worked around, not solved by buying a new camera.
I've benefitted from some unbelievable new and used lens bargains too, building up a really nice arsenal covering 17mm to 600mm for relatively little money compared to current systems. And with the Sony LA-EA4 SLT adapter, they're all equally useable on E-mount cameras, so they're "future proofed".
Do I feel a pressing urge to get away from a dead system? Yeah, sure... it's
killing me
