Extension Tube Test

I purchased three Spiratone extension tubes for use on my K-3. Here are some SOOC images from a few shots with the 20mm tube and a Promaster Spectrum7 28mm, f/2.8.

All taken at f/5.6, ISO 200, 1/200 - 1/500s shutter speed.

Marcus,

That would mean I'd need a reversing ring for any lens I wanted to use, no?

If they have different diameters yes. You also need them to have an aperture ring so that aperture is not always closed.

Or just a bit a folded paper to temporarily hold the aperture level to keep the lens open.

I have a 28mm Takumar that works great reversed. Some lenses work less well. A fun project.

You can also use any DA style mount adapter if the distance is enough and the adapter isn't in the way: for example a k to nex adapter. These da store versions usually have a ring you can turn to open and close the aperture in a stepless way.

Here is another site I found not that long ago that you might find useful: Macro Extension Tubes & Close-up Lenses

To be clear I mean you can have an adapter on the rear of the reversed lens which allows easy psuedo control of aperture in an uncalibrated stepless way.
