I'll sell to eliminate clutter. I used to be more concerned about money - selling for a good price higher than what I paid. That is definitely more work on all fronts, and an obstacle to getting rid of stuff, especially cheap stuff. I have a few odd lenses that are "worth something" but I'd have to take a lot of shots to show that, talk them up, wait for interest... better to just forget what I paid and sell them cheap or give them away. I now believe that the experience of using a lens is valuable, so even if I lose money on paper, I have the experience. I had a Vivitar/Tokina 35mm f2.8 M42 lens that I got in a bundle, maybe paid $15. It was clean and functional, not a bad lens, but why would anyone be interested? It's not a Flektogon or f2.0 or even a DA35/2.4. I sold it for shipping costs to someone who wanted it for a Spotmatic.

I kind of like boxing stuff up to survive shipping.

I always use more than enough bubble wrap to ensure it can survive just about anything. With the more valuable lenses I use a ridiculous amount just for the fun of it. The funny part is that when you buy them from any retailer they usually put one or two of those air pocket things in the box and they don't even provide coverage on all sides of the lens box.... makes no sense.

my main reason to sell stuff that is camera related is to cluttered. I've gotten to a place where I've tried EVERY possible lens combination, and figured out their sweet spots, and where my personal sweet spots are. As in, since i'm now focusing primarily on portraits, I dont really need an ultra wide lens. Since I mostly shoot wide open and in low light areas, I dont need anything narrower than F2.8. Since I dont shoot wild life, I dont need anything longer than 200mm. Since I shoot primes, I dont need any of the zooms, etc.

As such, whatever doesn't tick the box for me has to go. So that relates to any crop lenses, any zoom lenses, and any crop sensor cameras such as the K5 and Kx that i've been trying to sell for a while now.
