What is "YOUR" lens of the year 2019 ?

Around the end of last year, I make this threat thread, What is your "Lens of the Year 2018" - PentaxForums.com

This year I am asking you the same, What is "YOUR" lens of the year 2019.

If you can, please share:
  • 1 or 2 photos taken by the lens.
  • A short description why you crown it as the lens of the year

It is only have to be "A" lens impress you the most in 2019. You might own it for a day but you love it so much and you can talk about it here.

I think you meant "thread", not "threat". Threats are discouraged on PF.

...or else!!!

My lens(es) of the year must be the SMC-M 50/1.7 and the Sigma 10-20/3.5... I hardly use anything else anymore.

For me it has to be my DFA 150-450mm. I'm normally very cautious about 'reviewing' a lens, until we've walked a few miles together... but with this one I knew after one weekend it was everything people had said, and more!

D-FA 1.4/85

The 11-18 appears worthy. They did everything right, but forgot to release the 85 with it. 6 weeks to go.

Continuing my practice of last year, I checked to see which lens I had taken most shots with in 2019. Once again I was very surprised. It is the DFA* 50 f/1.4 (1625 shots). I really didn't think I'd used it that much! So, by weight of numbers, the new fast 50 is my lens of the year.

All my "A" lenses impress me... on a regular basis and I've got a few.

smc DA*55 is my lens of the year

In 2019 I discovered the DA55* 1.4. I like the lens very much for its rendering, silent AF and weather-sealing.
2019 is also the year I decided to stay with Pentax APS-C instead of moving to m4/3, Sony APS-C, or full frame. The ideal combination of size, weight, portability, cost, IBIS, weather-sealing and rendering were the deciding factors, and the DA55 made the decision much easier.

Here are some examples shot this year with the DA55.

DA*11-18. I took it to London/France and Seattle/Alaska this year. I may never use my DFA15-30 again.

It also gets some use closer to home.

Time Well Spent

For me since Pentax FF has been back in town... after many years absent i.e. back to film days.

I've been enjoying renewing relationships with many in the Harem, but I've got quite a soft spot for my "Gorgeous Lady” Pentax-A*200mm F2.8 ED, but keep it quiet... I don't want the others finding out and having mutiny on my hands.

This is easy...2019 was a slow year for lens purchases (exactly one bought in K-mount) and that one has turned out to be an impressive optic.

2019 Lens of the Year!

This one is on the will-never-sell list.
