My most used lens was my M 50 1.7 as I've been playing a lot (about 99% of shots taken over the past year) with manual focus film cameras. Nice out-of-focus rendering, nice to handle and use, small but not annoyingly so.

For me it's the 18.3mm lens built in to the GR III. Looking at my flickr, there's a clear change from before to after I got the camera in late March. I've used it for everything from street shots (as expected) to landscapes, macro, double exposure and icm experiments, and even the occasional shot at a concert. I have the second photo with the winter landscape printed 20x30" and it's pin sharp all across. Trying to evaluate the lens itself separate from the camera is hard, but it is sharp, compact, plenty fast for my needs, and I like the bokeh.

I only recently purchased the 35mm f/2.8 Limited and I just love this lens - definitely the highlight for my 2019 year - my first Limited lens!

this year made it a point to shoot people/portraits more so than ever....the FA35/f2 has been a workhorse doing so.....after getting the FA77 I have not been compelled to replace the FA35 with the 31 or 43 (yet) due to cost and the satisfaction with the 35.....

I think the FA 31mm Ltd is still the lens I enjoy using most - it's my walkabout lens on the K-1 when I just take one camera and one lens, and just has a look I like. Also, it's reasonably compact, and wider than it looks, which is handy for street. (my second most used lens is the 100mm macro (F) for insect macros on the K-3)

Internet really slow, back for more later...

My most used this year was a 10-17 with Samsung badging not Pentax. Not everybody likes the fishy look but I was quite pleased with this one

For 2019 it's between the DA 55-300 PLM and the DA 20-40. On our recent trip to London I did not take the 55-300, I did not figure it would be useful enough in the city, and I took a Turnstile 5 sling with the KP, 20-40, 15, and F50. That worked well, The 20-40 got 95 percent of the use and performed well. But, since I've had the 20-40 for less than three months, the 55-300 will be my lens of the year. The versatility of the lens is pretty amazing when you see how small it is when collapsed, then coupled with the KP is really performs. Many time I've used it over the DA*300 simply for the autofocus speed. When traveling via air it takes up very little space, I usually take the KP, 55-300, 15, 35 or 50, and either a shorter zoom or macro in the Turnstyle 10 sling. I couldn't take all of that if taking the DA*300, or even once of the previous 55-300s. The lens is excellent for nature and landscapes, which are two genres that I shoot most often.

This year I am asking you the same, What is "YOUR" lens of the year 2019.

If you can, please share:
  • 1 or 2 photos taken by the lens.
  • A short description why you crown it as the lens of the year

It is only have to be "A" lens impress you the most in 2019. You might own it for a day but you love it so much and you can talk about it here.
The SMC PENTAX-DA 1:3.5 - 6.3 18 - 250mm ED AL (IF) Zoom, on my PENTAX K-r. It's overall flexibility trumps my other lenses as my go-to lens - it's on my camera almost all the time.

Definitely the DFA 28-105.
It's the perennial runner-up for me. The quiet achiever: it does everything really well, but isn't flashy. Glad to see someone chose it.

I wish I had a good image to post, but getting the A 35-105 hasn't yielded any I want to post yet. I do notice it's a better lens than I'm used to and it's a very useful zoom for what I enjoy. Must shoot more!

For me, the DA* 300mm has been almost permanently attached to my K1, with and without my 1.4x rear converter. I have done a lot of wildlife photography this year, as well as anything I see while hiking trails. This lens makes a nice 'macro' as well. I think my other lenses may be getting a bit jealous.

It used to be the 35 f2.4 until September when I purchased my first limited da 21 . It was the only lens I used since that moment. I love it.

For me it's been the SMCA 50/2.8 Macro. Razor sharp, wonderful focus feel. It easily equals my Sigma 70/2.8 Macro in terms of sharpness
and is so much more joyful to use. (The Sigma does produce slightly more saturated colors).

This is easy...2019 was a slow year for lens purchases (exactly one bought in K-mount) and that one has turned out to be an impressive optic.

It is a marvelous lens. I have the Vivitar Series 1 version. I am loving it too.
