Hark !
It's a bit of a lark
That the mention of 'Snark'
(Written on the island of Sark)
Should spark
The dogs that bark
E'en when it is dark
Which all must mark
Each day in the park
Waiting for Tark
A the otter
Eaten by a shark

Chasm.
You forgot the nark who ate all the quark!

Unfortunately, the OP doesn't define just what snark is in the context of this forum. This post might even be considered as snark. Oops!

an imaginary animal (used to refer to someone or something that is difficult to track down).

As long as the PF merchandise range doesn't get expanded to include snark gifts, I'm ... usually ... fine, I guess.

Seriously, compared with many other, particularly gear-centred photography forums, PentaxForums is a remarkably cordial place.

"Snarky" is a British colloquialism for sarcastic, perhaps it is related to that?

There are two etymologies for "snarky" and the poem by Lewis Carroll is indeed one of them.

We tend to say sarky rather than snarky, I think snarky is more of an Americanism, perhaps a combination of snide and sarcastic.I've always thought it had a slightly nastier edge than merely sarcastic?

You are indeed correct, I don't know what I was thinking when I said it.
