I'd like to go away from Flickr. Are there any free alternatives?

Not really. Very few sites offer good quality image hosting with the ability to link for Forum use and I don't think most do it for free. Alternatives are to host your own, I think Smugmug and Photobucket are other options, although I think the functionality lacks there.

Isn't Flickr owned by SmugMug? I think its a bit pricey too.
